Gallery C is proud to announce the opening of TWO PERSPECTIVES, new works by Iowa artists Abigail Butcher and Wendy Romero.
TWO PERSPECTIVES is an exploration of self-discovery by two artists working in very different media. Wendy Romero’s work is best known for combining traditional painting practices with drawing, hand-dyed textiles, handmade paper, cheesecloth, a variety of metal leafing and other materials to explore different compositions and dimensional perceptions. Abigail Butcher combines painting and drawing in a juxtaposition of bright color, solid, bold and purposeful pairs with fast-paced, messy graphite marks, and random drips of paint.
Romero earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design and her Masters of Fine Arts at Georgia Southern University. She has been teaching in higher education for nearly 15 years and she has been a practicing artist for more than 20 years.
Abigail Butcher studied painting at the University of Northern Iowa and pursued a Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and exhibits at galleries and art fairs throughout the Midwest.
Meet the artists at an Opening Reception on Friday, March 24, 2017, 5:30-8:30 p.m. The public is invited, encouraged to attend, and to participate in the Historic Millwork District’s innovative art scene. All work is for sale. The reception is free and open to all ages featuring inspired catering by The Food Store with special musical guests Eric Balayti and Nathan Jenkins. Gallery hours throughout the exhibit are Wednesday-Sunday 1-4 p.m. The exhibit runs through May 21, 2017.
